Statewide restrictions on restraint (R) or (S) : Reg (R&S)
Ohio has a corporal punishment statute that allows teachers, principals and administrators of schools, nonlicensed school employees and school bus drivers to use and apply such amount of force and restraint as is reasonable and necessary to quell a disturbance threatening physical injury to others, to obtain possession of weapons or other dangerous objects, and for the purpose of self-defense and protection of property. OHIO ADMIN CODE § 3319.41. However, there are no regulations protecting students from abusive uses of restraint and seclusion.
