Anchorage School District v. M.G., Case No. 18-35229, (9th Cir)
On May 16, 2018, NDRN in collaboration with the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates (COPAA), filed an amicus brief in support of “stay put” for a student with multiple disabilities who recently as a teenager was losing all his vision. The hearing officer agreed with the parents regarding a placements at the Perkins School for the Blind. The school district appealed to district court and threatened to cut off funding for the placement while the appeal was pending. The district court ordered the school district to continue funding the program while the appeal was pending and the school district appealed to the Ninth Circuit.
On August 22, 2018, the Ninth Circuit affirmed the stay put order of the district court in an unreported decision.
