Disability Rights Florida Monitors Facility Housing Unaccompanied Migrant Children

In April 2019, Disability Rights Florida released a report with the findings and recommendations from its monitoring of the Homestead Temporary Shelter in Homestead, Florida. This facility is operated by the Office of Refugee Resettlement, part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and houses children who entered the United States without their parent or legal guardian or who for other reasons have been separated from their parent or legal guardian.

In this video, Disability Rights Florida attorney Peter Sleasman describes what led these children to end up in U.S. custody and what he observed during the P&A’s monitoring of the Homestead facility.
