Fires and natural disasters significantly disrupt the lives of people who encounter them. People with disabilities, particularly those whose well-being is contingent on services and supports, are among the most vulnerable to experiencing homelessness, violence, and/or the interruption of Social Security benefits in the aftermath of such emergencies. This session will provide rep payee reviewers an overview of emergencies and disasters as a way of assisting payees with becoming more proactive in eliminating hazards and effectively managing evacuations.
