In Matter of Lacee L. v. Administration for Children’s Services, New York Court of Appeals, No. APL-2017-00247
On July 31, 2018, NDRN joined the ACLU in an amicus brief in Matter of Lacee L. v. Administration for Children’s Services, in the New York Court of Appeals, New York’s highest court, on behalf of a mother with an intellectual disability whose child was removed in a neglect proceeding. The amicus argues that parents with disabilities face unconstitutional discrimination and that the ADA applies to the services and programs of the Administration for Children’s Services which must provide meaningful access and opportunities.
Mixed largely unfavorable decision October 18, 2018.
