The National Disability Rights Network thanks House Leadership for introducing an updated version of the HEROES Act, which addresses many of the needs that have arisen since the House passed the legislation in May 2020. The updated version includes increased funding for the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act (DD Act) programs.
Today, the network of Protection and Advocacy agencies around the country are on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic as they work with persons with disabilities in facilities and in the community to protect them from abuse and neglect and ensure access to needed services and supports. Congress must act now to ensure that the DD Act programs can continue their response to new challenges posed by COVID-19.
