Washington, D.C. – On Thursday, October 10, leaders from the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, NAACP, State Voices, Common Cause, Verified Voting, NALEO Educational Fund, National Disability Rights Network and Asian Americans Advancing Justice will host a press briefing to officially announce the launch of the 2024 Election Protection Coalition. The event will take place during National Voter Education Week and will include announcements from coalition leaders on voter protection efforts ahead of November 5, such as resources available to voters through the 866-OUR-VOTE Election Protection hotline, early vote rallies, disinformation prevention, and the impacts of recent hurricanes on voting.
The Election Protection Coalition’s mission is to protect, advance and defend the right to vote, especially for communities of color. During the call, The Coalition will discuss current efforts they are tackling that may undermine our nation’s secure elections including misinformation campaigns targeting BIPOC communities, newly passed voter restriction legislation, and language access for non-English speakers.
During the last general election cycle, the Election Protection hotline fielded 246,000 calls, with over 400,000 people visiting the 866ourvote.org website between October 1 and election day.
