In July 2022, numerous disability advocates, including NDRN employees, were invited to attend an Amtrak Board meeting. New legislation dictated that such a meeting bring together disability advocates and the Board. Advocates imagined that the meeting would provide ample time for the two groups to talk about important issues. However, the disability community left the meeting dissatisfied; a majority of the meeting was composed of slide presentations. In response, the Transportation Task Force of CCD composed a letter expressing hopes that the two groups could meet again to allow for more fruitful conversations between the two groups. Amtrak sent a letter in reply.
